Patriots Report: Week 13

It's 14-7 as I write this. I was going to predict Patriots 34 to Dolphins 10, so I am sticking to my original story. Really.

More analysis later ...

  1. More analysis? What analysis? That your idiot coach lost the game when he refused to kick a field goal and "take the points". Say whatever excuse you want about your QB who is more interested in racking up GQ magazine covers than being a team mate, or your lackluster secondary which was sliced apart by a near-rookie QB, or your inability to stop the run (and the Dolphins hardly even tried to run else they would have run it down your bitter throats). The bottom line is that your own supposedly great coach made yet another stupid error based entirely on his pride. The Patriots are a has-been team that has now lost five away games this year. They might win the AFC East division, but not because of any great skill of their own.

So, yeah, let's hear your pathetic "analysis". We are waiting with breathless abandon while watching clips of Brady's interceptions on NFL.com.

  2. Dear Barack Abdul-Ali,

As we stand, the Pats have to win two games against road teams with losing records and two games at home. Then the division is a cinch clinch. Even if they lose another game, they still have the most in division wins (assuming they beat Buffalo).

Then they have to knock off the wild card team, win two playoff games on the road including undefeated, and beat undefeated New Orleans. A tall order.

Even if the Pats don't make it to the Superbowl, it's defeat and ignonimity for Miami as two undefeated teams face off in your beloved home stadium. What shame!

So enjoy your brief shining moment in the sun. But in reality you lost. If you remember, in Patriots Report: Week 6 & 7, I wrote the following:

"I challenged my Miami fan friend, Barack Abdul Ali to spring for two tickets, but offered to pay for both of them plus all gas if the Dolphins won. So far, he is cowering behind an automatic email reply message."

Where was your over-confident swagger then? But beware ... the next time I make an offer like that, you will lose or won't dare to take it.

  3. CORRECTION: If the Pats, Jets, Dolphins end up tied, the Pats just need to beat Buffalo a second time in that equation, they TIE the Dolphins for wins in the division but they come out on top in the various tie-breaker scenarios. At least it looks like the two most crucial remaining games are Buffalo (it figures) and Carolina.

  4. The Dolphins are now the best 6-6 team in football, hands down. The Patriots look hurt, confused, effeminate, and weak in their loss. In spite of these factors, I think the Patriots are going to win the division. Why? Because in spite of their overall team strength, the Dolphins have the worst QB in the NFL.

  5. Brady was playing with an injured hand that occurred sometime during the game. He hasn't been Tom Brady in the last two games. They can win the division by going 3-1 and beating Buffalo. The sky isn't falling, it just feels that way.

  6. This is most ridiculous, my misguided Bostonian friend. First, my name is not Barack and I find it an insult to our president that you would refer to me that way. My name is Bono. I don't know what tickets you are talking about, but you clearly have me confused with someone else. I did not mean to post anonymously last time, I thought I was logged in but wasn't and didn't realize it until it was clicked. Probably because of all the noise in the hooka bar I was at.

But irregardless, you have yet to offer any excuse for the Patriots nearly 24 hours after their humiliating loss to last year's AFC East champions. Isn't this blog supposed to be about the "golden era" of Boston Sports. What's so Golden about yesterday?

Also, you realized your division error, but now you are relying on "various tie-breaker scenarios" to achieve a division win? Let's be honest, shall we? No "golden era" in history was defined by "various tie-breaker scenarios". Do you think the Romans sat around digesting "various tie-breaker scenarios" when the Huns were smashing their villages?

Why don't you just admit that yesterday was not a fluke? The real fluke has been the near-decade run of the Patriots. The Dolphins are returning to their domination of the AFC East as they had done for nearly 40 years.

Did you also miss the other bit of news yesterday? The Colts tied the Patriot's 21 game winning streak and with a win next week (likely) will break it. Just a few years after Belichick gets a little record of his own, its already smashed. I seem to recall certain records from Miami in 1972 *still* standing.

And speaking of Miami, did you read today's Miami Herald yet? Let me quote a few paragraphs for you...

"The sunset of the Patriots' evil empire arrived Sunday when a frustrated Bill Belichick ran out of answers and an injured Tom Brady ran out of heroics.

"The Dolphins put one more steely dagger into the empire's unfeeling heart with a 22-21 victory that suggests upset but actually is testament that New England is a team in decline and a new power is emerging in the AFC East."

    "That new power?"

"The team whose former University of Michigan quarterback is 23 years old rather than 32 years old. The new power is the one whose 25-year-old linebacker intercepted Brady to effectively end the game while New England's 40-year-old linebacker looked on from the sideline."

"The Miami Dolphins are tomorrow's team, one that promises great things to come rather than great days gone by."

"And after Sunday's victory, the feeling here is that Miami's tomorrow is going to arrive faster than we thought -- while New England's glorious yesterday is fading faster than we thought."

"Our friends in Boston will, of course, disagree with this. To them, Sunday's outcome was nothing but a fluke, an inelegant bump on the road to another division title."

"So maybe they should study facts as chilling as a Yankees World Series win:"

The article goes on to list all the abysmal failures of New England yesterday, but also points out such lovely things as the Dolphins being the first team in 3 years to break the Patriots record of never losing twice in a row. Of course, we broke a few other records last time we met, even though we lost.

So, we are still waiting for your analysis, which I doubt will ever come.
